One week from today marks the start of National Singles Week. The dating service It's Just Lunch conducted a survey about dating attitudes and habits, and they broke out results for respondents in the Charlotte region. (For the uninitiated, Charlotte is one of 90 areas where the service will set up one-on-one lunch dates with compatible singles; check www.itsjustlunch.com for more info).

Historic Rosedale, at 3427 N. Tryon St. in north Charlotte, was built in 1815 as part of a 911-acre plantation. Archibald Frew, its first owner, was a merchant, postmaster and tax collector, and neighbors called the home "Frew's Folly" -- possibly because of its glaring yellow trim. Want to know more? The home is hosting a Grandparents Day event today from 1-4 p.m. www.historicrosedale.org .
